Syria January-April 2021: Market down -33.5%, Kia improves share to 38.3%
The Kia Pegas is now on sale in Syria.
The Syrian new car market is down -33.5% year-on-year over the first four months of 2021 to a meagre 804 units. Only two brands continue to sell in Syria and they are both Korean. Hyundai holds 61.7% of the market vs. 73.1% over the Full Year 2020, while Kia is at a much improved 38.3% vs. 26.9% in 2020. Given the small volumes, the models ranking is quite volatile and this time two nameplates are equal #1: the Hyundai Elantra and Kia Cerato. They distance the Hyundai Tucson and the new Kia Pegas landing directly in 4th place. The Hyundai Reina is also up to #5 vs. #10 over the Full Year 2020.
