World November 2020: Market fall thins to -2.1%

Baojun RS-3. In November, the Chinese market is key in reducing the global market fall to just -2.1%.

LMC Automotive has released Global Light Vehicle sales data for November 2020, showing a moderate -2.1% year-on-year drop to 7.571.242 units. The year-to-date volume is now down -15.6% to 69.328.916 vs. 82.142.553 over the same period in 2019, a loss of almost 13 million units. In terms of annualised selling rate (SAAR), global sales remain around 90 million units (90.2%) as it has been the case over the past four months after falling below 50 million in April. This level is roughly equivalent to the Full Year 2019 result at 90.3 million units, so it can be said that November global sales have returned to pre-pandemic levels despite spreading lockdowns in Western Europe notably.

Looking at sales by region, China was estimated at +11% (it turned out to be +12.6%) with a SAAR dropping below 29 million at a still very dynamic 28.9 million vs. 25.5 units in the Full Year 2019. Japan (+6.5%), South Korea (+5.7%) and Eastern Europe (+4.8%) all pull the global market up whereas the U.S. (-15.8%), Western Europe (-15.2%) and Canada (-9.1%) tilt the November global result into negative.

  1. RickM, what is your problem with me and with Toyota?
Yes, most people in the world buy Toyota’s, VW’s and Honda’s products. When world model ranking for 2020 is ready most probably Corolla, Camry, RAV4, Civic, Accord and CR-V or at least 4-5 of them will be in top 10.
When 1 million people have chosen to buy a particular model during a particular year, does it really matter if these people are located in China, USA and Japan or in France, Germany and UK? People are people.

  2. China+USA+Japan, the three biggest in volume countries are responsible for 55.7% of global sales up to date. If you can make it there, it doesn’t matter if you can make it anywhere else or not! And vise versa!

  3. I just don’t know why do the divide western and eastern Europe !? Anyway Europe : 1.443.424 , -10.4% ?
What do you think ? 🙂
