Our partnership with SMMT enables us to share with you a zoom in on Northern Ireland as a UK nation, keep in mind overall UK sales figures have already been analysed in our UK Full Year 2019 update. The Northern Irish new car market is off -29.7% year-on-year in 2020 to 36.191 registrations, the second largest drop of all UK nations below England. The models ranking gets a last minute reshuffle: whereas the Ford Fiesta was #1 as of end October, the Ford Focus (-13.6%) climbs 5 spots to take the annual lead with 2.8% share. The VW Golf dominated the last three months of 2020 and ends the year only 8 sales below the Focus in 2nd place overall. This means the Ford Fiesta (-36.1%) is toppled to #3 above the Hyundai Tucson (-24.2%) and Nissan Qashqai (-39.4%) whose rankings are unchanged. The Renault Captur breaks into the annual Northern Irish Top 10 at #7 and the Ford Puma lands directly at #9.
