The Belgian new car market falls -21.5% year-on-year in 2020 to 431.491 vs. 550.009 last year. In a very volatile brands ranking, Volkswagen (-24.9%) retains the lead despite losing share from 9.7% to 9.2% and only topping the monthly charts four times this year in February, March, June and July. In contrast BMW (-0.7%) manages stable volumes, soars 3 spots to #2 and improves its share from 6.7% to 8.4%. BMW also topped the Belgian charts four times: in January, April, August and November. Peugeot (-21.7%) remains in third place and overtakes Renault (-34.1%) down two ranks to #4. Skoda (-3%), Audi (-10%) and Mercedes (-16.3%) also manage to outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10, but Opel (-37.5%), Ford (-25.2%) and Citroen (-24%) aren’t that lucky. This year we welcome Polestar (#33), MG (#37), Aiways (#48), Cupra (#58) and Maxus (#62) in the Belgian ranking.
