Ireland September 2020: VW ID.3 scores instant win in market surging +66.3%

The VW ID.3 is the best-selling vehicle in Ireland for its first month in market.

The Irish new car market records a spectacular surge in September at +66.3% year-on-year to 5.684 units, also the very first gain of 2020 leading to a year-to-date tally down -25.8% to 84.534. Volkswagen (+34.6%) and Ford (+54.6%) top the brands ranking even though they both trail the market, while Toyota (+197.8%) and Kia (+94.8%) soar ahead of Skoda (+56%) more muted. Audi (+136.6%), Nissan (+105.1%), Peugeot (+90.1%) and Hyundai (+82.4%) also vastly outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Tesla (+935.3%), Fiat (+700%), Mini (+112.5%), Jaguar (+80%) and Suzuki (+73.7%) shine below.

There’s a surprise atop the Irish models charts in September: the VW ID.3 lands directly in pole position with 4.2% share, four units above the YTD leader the Toyota Corolla (+136.4%). This makes Ireland the second country in the world alongside Norway to crown the VW ID.3 as soon as its first month in market. The Ford Focus (+105.2%), Toyota C-HR (+540.7%) and Tesla Model 3 (+1146.2%) complete a very dynamic Top 5.
