Cyprus July 2020: Kia Stonic (+206.5%) triumphs, reclaims YTD top spot in market down -18.2%
The Kia Stonic is back to the YTD pole position in Cyprus.
According to data shared by our local partners SEMO Cyprus and INNOSOFT, the Cyprus new car market remains a fair distance below its year-ago level in July at -18.2% to 1.057 units. That’s actually almost the same drop as in June (-19.9%) and it means the year-to-date tally is now down -24.1% to 5.948. This month the Kia Stonic (+206.5%) triples its July 2019 sales and snaps its 5th ever monthly win in Cyprus after February 2018, March 2019, September 2019 and January 2020. It sells almost double any other nameplate and reclaims the YTD lead off the Toyota Yaris with 4.7% share. The Nissan Qashqai (+31.6%), Hyundai Tucson (+14%), Toyota C-HR (+53.3%) and VW T-Roc (+115.8%) all also completely buck the negative trend to ensure the July Top 5 models are improving by at least double-digit gains, and also are 100% SUVs. Leader last month, the Toyota Yaris (-35.1%) falls to #6 while the VW Tiguan (+35%) and T-Cross (stable) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, the Kia Ceed (+380%), Nissan X-Trail (+120%), Ford Focus (+71.4%), Range Rover Evoque (+40%) and Volvo XC40 (+6.3%) are also up.
