The Chevrolet Onix is the best-selling vehicle in Colombia in April.
8/06 update: Now with Top 70 All-models.
Colombia has been under a strict national lockdown since March 20, originally scheduled to last until April 12, but extended multiple times since, to April 27, May 11 and May 25. All dealerships in the country are closed even for car maintenance, with online sales only being allowed since April 30. As a result the Colombian new car market virtually stops in April at -98.9% year-on-year to just 217 units, so far the largest year-on-year drop we have reported in the world behind India (-100%). The year-to-date tally is now down -30.8% to 51.481 units.
Chevrolet (-97.6%) is the only carmaker managing to sell over 20 units in the country this month, accounting for a mammoth 35.5% share and mainly thanks to the online launch of the Onix Sport, enabling the Onix nameplate (-93.3%) to lead the models ranking with 17.1% share. Chinese truck specialist FAW (-29.6%) shoots up from outside the March Top 30 directly into 2nd place at 8.8% share, distancing Kia (-99%), Renault (-99.7%) and Volkswagen (-98.6%). No other brand sells in the double-digits. Model-wise, Chevrolet monopolises the podium with the Spark GT (-98.8%) and Beat (-98.8%) with the new Mazda CX-30, leader last month, managing an equal #3 spot.
