The Toyota Land Cruiser holds almost 40% of the Yemeni market.

New car sales in Yemen edge down -4.6% year-on-year over the First Quarter of 2020 to 1.867 registrations. Toyota (+0.9%) further strengthens the hermetic grip it has on the market to an unfathomable 97.1% share vs. 93.9% over the Full Year 2019. Lexus (+75%) leaps to 2nd place overall with 1.1% share, meaning the Toyota Group holds 98.2% of the Yemeni market so far in 2020. Hyundai (-11.1%), Suzuki (+450%) and Nissan (-75%) are the only additional brands selling in the country just as Land Rover, #2 in 2019, hasn’t sold one unit this year yet. Model-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser (-23.2%) easily remains on top at 39.3% share and despite a drastic fall, distancing the TOota Hilux (+15.6%) at 29% and the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup (_18.4%) at 11.4%. The Toyota Fortuner (+2580%), RAV4 (+750%), Camry (+350%), Coaster (+242.9%) and Rush (+150%) also impress.
