UK nations January 2020: BMW 1 Series at highest in 5 years, Mercedes A-Class scores milestone
The BMW 1 Series hits its highest ranking in Scotland in 5 years.
Thanks to our partnership with SMMT we can share with you the Top 10 best-sellers for all UK nations in January. Keep in mind this is a zoom in by nation, all sales figures are included in the upcoming January 2020 UK update. Wales (-2.1%) resists best this month at 5.224 registrations, while England (-6.4%) at 128.901 does slightly better than the UK average (-7.3%) but Scotland (-18.3%) at 9.770 and Northern Ireland (-11.1%) at 5.030 both crash.
The Ford Fiesta tops 3 nations: England, Northern Ireland and Scotland but ranks #3 in Wales while the Vauxhall Corsa is #1 in Wales with a whopping 10.1% share. The Vauxhall Grandland X owes its UK Top 10 to a record 2nd place in Wales with 5% share, only its third Top 10 appearance here after ranking #5 in February 2019 and #9 in April 2019. The Ford Focus ranks #2 in England and Scotland and #3 in Northern Ireland, the VW Golf is #2 in Northern Ireland and #3 in Scotland and the Nissan Qashqai is #3 in England.
Other great performers this month include the BMW 1 Series up to #5 in Scotland for only its 4th Top 10 appearance there in the past 5 years and best ranking since February 2015 (#5), the Honda Jazz up to #7 in Scotland, its first Top 10 there since August 2018 (#5), the MG ZS #7 in Wales which is its 6th Top 10 finish there in the past 7 months, the Vauxhall Crossland X #8 in Scotland and breaking into the Welsh Top 10 for the first time at #10, the Mercedes A-Class at #9 in Northern Ireland, the first Mercedes to crack the monthly Top 10 since we started following Northern Ireland monthly in June 2013, the Mercedes C-Class at #9 in England and the Renault Captur at #9 in Wales for it first Top 10 finish there since October 2018.
