Singapore January 2020: Mercedes snaps first win in 5 years in market down -39.1%

Mercedes is the most popular carmaker in Singapore in January.

Lunar New Year falling in January this year means Singapore new car sales dive -39.1% year-on-year to just 5.029. We have a surprise brand leader: Mercedes (-4.3%) snapping its first win in exactly five year (since January 2015) at a whopping 17.6% share vs. 10.9% over the FY2019. Toyota (-33.3%) and Honda (-55.7%) are knocked down to #2 and #3 respectively with BMW (+34.7%) surging ahead at #4 and Kia (-46.3%) rounding out the Top 5. Audi (-0.9%) and Nissan (-27.7%) also lose less ground than the market in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Hyundai (-72.6%), Mazda (-67.5%) and Mitsubishi (-58.9%) completely implode. Further down, Ssangyong (+377.8%), Rolls Royce (+133.3%), Mini (+48%), Lamborghini (+40%), Porsche (+19.6%) and Subaru (+15.1%) stand out.
