The Toyota Tacoma remains the best-selling vehicle in American Samoa.
Not to be confused with Samoa covered in separate updates, American Samoa is an unincorporated territory of the United States located in the South Pacific. It consists of five main islands and two coral atolls with a total population of 55.689. American Samoa is the southernmost territory of the U.S. and one of two U.S. territories (with Jarvis Island) south of the Equator.
The American Samoa new car market is up 8.2% year-on-year in 2019 to 411 registrations, and Toyota (+17.2%) manages to hold off Ford (+17.6%) to retain the brand crown for the 2nd straight year, with Hyundai (-9.5%) in difficulty and Nissan (+25%) in great shape. Model-wise, unlike all other South Pacific markets, the American Samoa Toyota lineup logically follows the U.S. one and the Toyota Tacoma (+10.4%) cements its market domination with a whopping 20.7% share vs. 20.3% in 2018. The Toyota RAV4 (+85%) and 4Runner (+37.5%) also impress.
