Belarus Full Year 2019: Lada reclaims #1 spot for first time in 7 years, Geely up 108.7% in market up 22.1%

New light vehicle sales in Belarus shoot up 22.1% year-on-year in 2019 to 64.504 units after lifting 52.7% in 2018, confirming this is one of the world’s most dynamic markets. Lada (+55.3%) more than doubles the market growth to spectacularly reclaim the brands annual pole position for the first time since 2012 with over a quarter of overall 2019 Belorussian sales. Lada topples Renault (+5.2%) while Volkswagen (+14.2%) remains on the podium but both carmakers lose significant share. Chinese local producer Geely (+108.7%) continues its dream run, scoring the largest gain in the entire market, and although it remains in 4th place the gap with Volkswagen thaws from 3.629 units in 2018 to just over 1.000 this year. Kia (+50.2%) is the other great performer in the Top 12, leapfrogging past Skoda (+18%) and Nissan (-33.2%) to hit #5, while Hyundai (+29.1%) also outpaces the market. Further down, BMW (+60.9%), Porsche (+60.5%), Haval (+59.7%), Audi (+38.1%), Volvo (+36%) and Peugeot (+31.9%) make themselves noticed.

Model-wise, the Lada Vesta (+44%) enjoys a second consecutive year in pole position, hitting an impressive 11.8% share and keeping the VW Polo (+18.3%) at bay. The Geely Atlas (+43.4%) leaps up 3 spots to climb onto the annual podium for the first time, knocking the Renault Sandero Stepway (-11.1%). The Kia Rio (+348.5%) shoots up 18 spots to #4 and the Lada XRAY (+116.7%) is up 6 to round out the Top 5. Notice also the Lada Granta (+123.6%) up 5 to #7 and the Geely Emgrand X7 (+321.3%) up 15 to break into the Top 10 at #10 while the Renault Logan Stepway is the most popular 2019 launch, landing directly inside the Top 10 at #9 and killing the standard Logan (-42.7%). Further down, the Geely Emgrand 7 (+184.9%), Skoda Kodiaq (+84.8%), VW Tiguan (+33.6%) and Hyundai Accent (+27.6%) shine.
