UK nations November 2019: Ford Kuga and Mercedes A-Class score first-ever wins, Tesla Model 3 #1 again in London

The Ford Kuga scores its first ever win in England this month.

Thanks to our partnership with SMMT we can share with you today the Top 10 best-sellers for all UK nations in October. Keep in mind this is a zoom in  by nation, all sales figures being included in our November 2019 UK update. This month only Wales (+7.6%) manages a year-on-year gain to 6.004 registrations, with England (-1.3%) at 135.271 logically matching the UK market’s drop but Northern Ireland (-2.9%) at 3.160 and Scotland (-4.2%) at 11.885 diving. Year-to-date, all nations are down, with Wales (-1.6%) resisting best at 74.284, England (-2.5%) at 1.866.400 and Northern Ireland (-2.7%) matching the overall UK market and Scotland (-5.5%) frankly underperforming at 166.977.

We have an interesting situation in the models ranking this month: the Vauxhall Corsa owes its national pole position almost solely to an outstanding performance in Wales where it takes a 11.3% market share with sales up 561.2% year-on-year, while only ranking #5 in England, #8 in Scotland and outside the Northern Irish Top 10. Meanwhile the Ford Kuga scores its first ever monthly win in England, repeats at #1 in Northern Ireland and ranks #2 in Scotland and #3 in Wales. For its part the Mercedes A-Class manages its first ever win in Scotland, meaning the Ford Fiesta tops no nation this month, instead ranking #2 in Wales and #3 in both England and Scotland.

Other podium rankers are the VW Golf #2 in England, the Ford Focus #2 in Northern Ireland and the Renault Kadjar at #3 in Northern Ireland, its 2nd ever podium there after ranking #2 in December 2016 and its first Top 10 finish since February 2018.  The Vauxhall Astra is up to #4 in Wales, its first Top 10 finish there since August 2017, the Seat Arona lands at #5 in Northern Ireland, its first ever Top 10 finish in any UK nation and the BMW X3 is #10 in Scotland for its third ever Top 10 (#7 in August 2017 and #6 in February 2019). Finally the Tesla Model 3 returns to the Londoner pole position for the third time in the past 4 months, while the BMW 5 Series surges to #2, the Toyota Prius is up to #4 and the Porsche Cayenne storms into the Top 10 at #9.
