Austria September 2019: Renault Clio, Ford Focus & Tesla Model 3 shine in market up 22.4%

The Austrian new car market bounces back up 22.4% year-on-year in September to 21.047 units on weak post-WLTP year-ago volumes, leading to a year-to-date tally down -6.4% to 258.298. Volkswagen (+33.9%) leads the brands ranking ahead of Skoda (+14.3%) and Renault (+113.5%) up 7 spots on August to #3. Seat (+108.5%), Fiat (+79%) and Mercedes (+21.4%) also post spectacular gains in the remainder of the Top 10, with Tesla (+940.9%), Porsche (+365.4%), Land Rover (+167.2%), DS (+120%), Alfa Romeo (+114.8%), Dacia (+113.1%), Audi (+109.8%), Mitsubishi (+102.9%), Lexus (+77.8%) and Mazda (+41.8%) also impressive further down.

The Skoda Octavia (-3.3%) remains the best-selling vehicle in the country ahead of the VW Golf (+30.4%), Renault Clio (+74.9%) and Ford Focus (+130%), while the Tesla Model 3 soars 104 spots on last month to #7, its second highest ranking in Austria below the #4 reached last March. The Fiat Panda (+236.6%) and Opel Astra (+115.2%) also outpace the market in the Top 10. Below the Model 3, the VW T-Cross (#12), Mazda CX-30 (#44) and Skoda Kamiq (#51) top new launches.
