Austria Full Year 2015: Volkswagen & Opel on top, Passat & Astra up

New car sales in Austria are up a shy 1.7% year-on-year in 2015 to 308.555 registrations, and the Top 6 best-selling carmakers are unchanged on 2014, led by Volkswagen at 17.3% share (+5%), Opel (+8%), Skoda (+7%), Hyundai (+12%), Ford (-3%) and Audi (-2%). BMW (+12%) overtakes Renault (+6%) and Mercedes (+20%), Nissan (+25%), Suzuki (+25%), Fiat (+29%), Volvo (+30%), Smart (+58%), Jeep (152%) and Tesla (+339%) all lodge impressive year-on-year gains.

…while Opel Astra deliveries are up 44%.

The VW Golf celebrates 39 consecutive years as Austria’s favourite, once again selling more than double the amount of any other nameplate despite deliveries down 6% to 17.726. The Skoda Octavia is up two spots to 2nd place, outpacing the VW Polo (-11%) while the Skoda Fabia (+26%) takes advantage of its new generation to land at #4. The VW Tiguan (-8%) makes the Top Five 100% VAG Group. The best performers in the Top 10 are the VW Passat up 69% to #7 and the Opel Astra boosted up 44% to #10 by discounts on the outgoing generation and the arrival of the new model late in the year. The Fiat 500X is the most popular all-new model at #54 followed by the Hyundai Tucson at #60, the Suzuki Vitara at #74 and the Mazda CX-3 at #76.
