Yemen January-May 2019: Toyota Land Cruiser holds 53.5% share of market up 70.7%
1 in every 2nd new light vehicle registered in Yemen in 2019 is a Land Cruiser.
The Yemeni new car market continues to recover albeit staying at very low levels at 3.541 sales over the first 5 months of 2019, up 70.7% year-on-year. Toyota (+67.1%) remains the only manufacturer to be truly active in the country at a suffocating 92.2% market share vs. 94.1% a year ago. Land Rover (+184.2%) surges to 4.6% share in 2nd place, distancing Nissan (+41%) while Hyundai (#4) and Honda (#7) return. Model-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser (+126.5%) tightens its grip over the ranking even further with a mammoth 53.5% share ahead of the Toyota Hilux (+78.1%), Land Cruiser Pickup (-14.9%) and Prado (+33.3%). The Range Rover (+192.3%) leaps into the Top 5 and the Toyota Rush lands at #8.
