Poland May 2019: Corolla (+155.7%) snaps first ever lead, lifts Toyota (+30.9%) to #1 in record market
The Toyota Corolla is the best-selling vehicle in Poland in May.
New car and light commercial sales continue to brilliantly gallop ahead in Poland at +11.5% in May to 53.224 units, a new record for the month, leading to a year-to-date volume up 3.6% to 262.151, also a record. This month Toyota (+30.9%) is the best-selling brand in the country for the first time since December 2017, eclipsing traditional leader Skoda (+12%) with Volkswagen (+12.7%) rounding up the podium. Once again Dacia (+39.3%) and Mercedes (+27.7%) post stellar scores, joined by Citroen (+38.5%), Kia (+20%) and BMW (+13.6%) in the Top 15.
Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Corolla (+155.7%) is lifted up by the new generation hatch to snap its very first Polish pole position at 3.6% share, almost 200 sales above the YTD leader, the Skoda Octavia (+22.3%) with the Skoda Fabia (+13.2%) rounding up the podium. This is the 4th time in the past 7 years that a Toyota nameplate is the best-seller in Poland after the Toyota Yaris ranked #1 in March 2013 and December 2018 and the Toyota Auris in August 2013. Below, the Dacia Duster (+76%) continues to evolve at markedly higher levers than a year ago and snaps the #3 spot YTD off the Toyota Yaris. The Toyota RAV4 (+167.2%) leaps up 17 spots on April to #7, the nameplate’s first Top 10 finish in 5 years (since April 2014) and a new Polish ranking record according to our archives.
