Polish new car sales continue on their impressive upwards trend this year, up another 39% year-on-year in March to 39,527 registrations including LCV, bringing the first Quarter total to 107,165 units, up 26% on 2013. However, keep in mind that for the first 3 months of the year, cars purchased as LCV by companies get a VAT-exemption for the price of thr car and petrol, which messes up the rankings somewhat. Brand-wise, the entire Top 7 is unchanged vs. February and year-to-date, with Skoda (13.5%), Volkswagen (10.1%) and Toyota (8.1%) leading the way. The Skoda Octavia is once again the most popular model in the country, followed for the 2nd time running by the Ford Focus at 3.1% share while the Skoda Fabia is back up 2 spots on February to round up the podium at 3% share.
For the 4th time in the last 5 months there is a Volkswagen in the Polish 4th position: after the Passat in January and the Tiguan in February, it’s the turn of the Golf which already ranked #4 last November. The Passat for its part is up one rank to shine once again at #5 both this month and year-to-date. The Skoda Rapid is up one spot to reach its all-time best ranking in the country at #6, the Skoda Superb remains 8th vs. #24 over the Full Year 2013, the Kia Cee’d is up 13 to #10, the Toyota RAV4 is back inside the Top 50 at #22 and the BMW X5 is up 7 to #39. Finally, let’s salute the appearances of the Jeep Grand Cherokee at #47, BMW X3 at #48 and Ford Ka at #49.
