Norway May 2019: Toyota RAV4 (+134.7%) up to #2, Audi e-Tron #4 in market edging up 0.5%
The Audi e-Tron is up to a world-best 4th place in Norway this month.
The Norwegian new car market manages to edge up 0.5% year-on-year in May to 13.117 registrations, leading to a year-to-date volume up 3.2% to 62.857. Toyota (+25%) vastly outperforms the market to easily snap the brands top spot at 15.6% share vs. 12.9% for Volkswagen (-12.3%) and 7.7% for Tesla (+94.6%) back up two spots on April to #3 and still #1 YTD for now thanks to last March’s Model 3 surge. Jaguar (+1706.9%), Hyundai (+88.4%), Audi (+22.4%) and Skoda (+14.7%) are the other heroes of the Top 10 mostly thanks to successful EVs (see further down).
Over in the models ranking, the VW Golf (-2.3%) is on top for the second straight month, this time followed by the Toyota RAV4 (+134.7%) boosted by the new generation hybrid with the Tesla Model 3 rounding up the podium and remaining by far #1 YTD at 12% share. The Audi e-Tron and Jaguar i-Pace are both up one spot on April to fit inside the Top 5, a situation unique in the world. The Hyundai Kona (+1276.5%), Volvo V60 (+149.6%), Renault Zoe (+60.5%) and Kia Niro (+48.5%) also shine.
