Taiwan April 2019: Ford (+27%) stands out in market edging up 0.6%
Ford Focus sales are up 119.7% year-on-year in Taiwan in April.
New car sales in Taiwan edge up 0.6% year-on-year in April to 34.680 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down 11.9% to 130.854. Brand leader Toyota (+2.6%) easily outpaces the market to reach 25.7% share vs. 24.2% so far this year, distancing Mitsubishi/CMC (-2.1%), Nissan/Infiniti (-7.1%), Honda (-8.9%) and Mercedes (-0.8%) all in difficulty. Mazda (-48.4%) is the hardest hit in the Top 10 but all remaining carmakers post a sturdy gain, led by Ford up a very impressive 27%, BMW (+5.8%), Volkswagen (+3.4%) and Lexus (+2.5%). Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla (+30.7%) reclaims the top spot off the RAV4 (+106.9%) but the Japanese brand’s newest crossover impressively retains the YTD lead for now, while the Nissan Kicks lodges a second consecutive month at #3. The Ford Focus (+119.7%), Honda HR-V (+61.5%) and Mercedes C-Class (+17.3%) also shine in the Top 10.
