Slovakia March 2019: Hyundai i30 up to record #2 in market up 7.9%

The Hyundai i30 sees its sales soar 40.7% year-on-year in March.

New car sales in Slovakia leaps up a cool 7.9% year-on-year in March, meaning the YTD loss thins to -1.8% to 23.897. Brand leader Skoda (+16.9%) manages to vastly outperform an already great performing market to reach 19.2% share, head and shoulders above Hyundai (+8.4%) and Kia (+16%) also posting excellent scores on the podium. Opel (+42.6%), Dacia (+20.8%) and Toyota (+17.7%) score the largest gains in the Top 10 while further down Jaguar (+100%), Lada (+86.7%), Jeep (+75.8%), Volvo (+60%), Mercedes (+30.5%), Mitsubishi (+23.4%), Fiat (+23%) and Seat (+18.2%) stand out. Model-wise, the Skoda Fabia (+15.4%) remains in a pole position it now holds YTD, dispatching the Skoda Octavia (-12.1%) down to #3 this month. The Hyundai i30 (+40.7%) soars to 2nd place overall, the highest we’ve seen this nameplate in Slovakia since BSCB started following this market monthly in 2012. Its cousin the Kia Cee’d (+18.1%) is also doing an excellent job at #4, as is the Dacia Duster (+159.1%) breaking into the Top 5 and the Renault Clio (+59.8%).
