Mexico April 2019: Suzuki (+23.2%), Mazda (+2.4%) survive market down -10.2%
Suzuki sales soar 23.2% year-on-year in a market down -10.2%.
New light vehicle sales in Mexico are back in hell in April at -10.2% year-on-year to 98.118 units, leading to a YTD tally down -3.7% to 430.170. Leaders Nissan (-18.9%) and Chevrolet (-15.7%) take the market down with them, as do Hyundai (-22.2%), Honda (-18.5%) and Toyota (-15.4%). In fact, there are only two gainers in the Top 10: Suzuki (+23.2%) at #10 and Mazda (+2.4%) at #8. There are more frequent further down, with Mitsubishi (+47%), Peugeot (+32%), Renault (+18.7%), Jeep (+11.6%), Mercedes (+9%) and BMW (+4.1%) all fitting within the Top 20. Model-wise, the Nissan Versa (-17.4%) holds onto the top spot despite a steep fall, followed by the Chevrolet Beat (-24.7%) in even greater difficulty. Below the Chevrolet Aveo (-9.1%) and Nissan Pickup (-13.3%), the VW Vento (+19.6%) is the highest ranked gainer at #5, joined in the Top 10 by the Mazda3 (+26.9%) at #9.
