New car sales in Malaysia drop 1.8% year-on-year in November to 48.282 registrations, meaning the year-to-date tally is now up 5.5% to 550.526 units. Thanks to a 27% surge, brand leader Perodua hits its 2nd best ever market share in Malaysia at 43.7% below the 51.1% reached last May. In contrast, Toyota (-43%), Honda (-32%) and Isuzu (-21%) all struggle mightily in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Mazda (+87%) and Nissan (+18%) also manage to post double-digit gains. In third place, local Proton (+0.2%) is stable at a round 10% share but remains below Toyota at #4 year-to-date.
