Pakistan July 2018: Toyota and Honda lift market up 9%

The Suzuki Swift is up 68% in Pakistan, but it’s the 2004 model that is still produced and sold locally.

Thanks to PAMA we can share with you July sales of locally-produced light vehicles in Pakistan, a fair representation of what the best-seller landscape given high taxes make imports negligible. The market is up 9% year-on-year to 21.344 units, lifting the year-to-date tally up 15.3% to 155.838 units. Market leader Suzuki posts a weak 4% gain to 51% share vs. 55% year-to-date whereas Toyota and Honda both surge 18% to 25.6% and 23.3% respectively. Model-wise, the Top 5 best-sellers all beat the market, led by the Toyota Corolla (+18%) ahead of the Suzuki Mehran (+20%), WagonR (+43%), Honda Civic and City (+21% both). Further down, the Suzuki Swift gains 68% and the Toyota Hilux is up 44%.
