Belgium July 2018: Volkswagen (+41%) tops market up 16.8%

The Belgian new car market soars 16.8% year-on-year in July to 42.771 registrations, lifting the year-to-date volume up 4.2% to 374.140 units. Volkswagen (+41%) more than doubles the market growth to cements its brand leadership at 11.1% share, with Peugeot (+23%) also outpacing the market to land in 2nd place ahead of archenemy Renault (+3%). Audi surges 30% to 7.2% in 4th place, taking the lead of the premium race above BMW (+6%) and Mercedes (-10%). Volvo (+43%) and Hyundai (+23%) also gain share in the Top 10 while below, Jeep (+158%), DS (+94%), Alfa Romeo (+82%), Mitsubishi (+58%), Smart (+54%), Jaguar (+42%), Skoda (+36%), Nissan (+34%), Subaru (+32%), Seat (+30%) and Kia (+29%) make themselves noticed.
Models info is now available for July 2018 thanks to our partnership with JATO Dynamics. The VW Golf soars 17% to 2.1% share, yet with a slim 62-unit advantage over the Hyundai Tucson (-8%) with the Renault Clio (+22%) snapping the third step of the podium. The VW Polo (-1%) and Opel Corsa (+36%) complete the Top 5 while the BMW X1 (+77%), Renault Captur (+23%) and Nissan Qashqai (+12%) also outpace the market.
