New car sales in Portugal gain 5.6% year-on-year in June to 26.215 units, lifting the year-to-date tally up 5.8% to 134.559. As is the case all around during end of periods (Quarter or Semester), Renault (+14%) is particularly strong at 17.1% share vs. 14.8% so far in 2018. The French carmaker distances Peugeot (+15%) at 9.1%, Fiat (+22%) at 8.4% and Citroen (+32%) at 6.2% in a Top 4 completely and frankly outpacing the market. Ford (+21%) also shines in the Top 10 but Volkswagen (-20%) and Mercedes (-16%) sink. Further down, Jeep (+4483%!), DS (+116%), Alfa Romeo (+65%), Lexus (+57%), Mini (+41%), Jaguar (+39%), Suzuki (+34%) and Hyundai (+20%) shine whereas Porsche (-42%), Audi (-30%), Mazda (-29%), Land Rover (-24%) and Volvo (-20%) struggle.

Over in the models ranking, like last month the Renault Clio (+2%) and Captur (+67%) dominate, with the Captur now threatening the Peugeot 208 (+18%) for the #2 spot YTD. The Citroen C3 (+38%) and Renault Megane (-3%) make the Top Five 100% French this month. The Nissan Qashqai (+15%) is up 6 spots on May to #8 and the Fiat Tipo (+35%) up a stunning 27 ranks to #9. Notice also the Ford Fiesta (+216%), Toyota C-HR (+184%), Citroen C4 Cactus (+69%), Peugeot 3008 (+50%), Mercedes GLC (+49%) and Fiat Panda (+46%) in great shape. The Seat Arona (#25) is the most popular newcomer ahead of the Citroen C3 Aircross (#43) and VW T-Roc (#73), and in June we welcome the Lamborghini Urus and Opel Grandland X in the Portuguese charts.
