Israel June 2018: Hyundai Ioniq (#1), Kia Niro (#5) up, Top 5 is Korean

It’s a Hyundai Ioniq invasion in Israel!

Thanks to our partnership with cartube.co.il, we can share with you today complete models and brands data for Israel in June and H1. The Israeli new car market is down 6.6% year-on-year in June to 23.466 registrations, pulling the YTD tally down 3% to 163.097 units. Brand leader Hyundai continues to go frankly against the grain with another 43% year-on-year surge to 13.7% share, distancing sister marque Kia (-10%) at 11.9%. In fact, the remainder of the Top 4 is all in negative with Toyota (-15%) and Skoda (-19%) also struggling. Seat (+19%), Mazda (+11%), Mitsubishi (+8%) and Nissan (+6%) however all manage solid gains whereas Suzuki (-36%) crumbles down. Further down, notice MG (+6600%!), Ssangyong (+72%), Chevrolet (+38%), Jeep (+10%) and Subaru (+10%).

The Kia Niro leaps up to 5th place in H1 thanks to a podium ranking in Q2.

Over in the models ranking, the Hyundai Ioniq (+84%) confirms it is the new best-seller in the country by topping both the Q1 and Q2 charts, making Israel the first market in the world to crown the Korean eco-car. The Kia Sportage (-18%) is back above the Hyundai Tucson (-11%) at #2 as it was over the Full Year 2017, while the 2017 leader, the Kia Picanto (-27%) tumbles down to #4. The Kia Niro (+142%) brilliantly completes a Top Five 100% Korean thanks to a #3 finish in Q2. The Hyundai i10 (+24%) is the only other Top 10 nameplate in positive in H1, with the Toyota Corolla (-35%), Mitsubishi Outlander (-24%), Mazda3 (-19%) and Skoda Octavia (-12%) all in freefall. The Mitsubishi ASX (#22) tops newcomers but it’s the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (#41) that was the best-seller over Q2 (#16).
