Taiwan April 2018: Honda CR-V up 235% to #2 in market up 1.3%
The Honda CR-V soars 235% to 2nd place overall in Taiwan in January.

The Taiwanese new car market edges up 1.3% year-on-year in April at 34.458 registrations, meaning the YTD volume is now up 4.9% to 148.619 units. Brand leader Toyota is stable year-on-year at 25.3% share, with Mitsubishi/CMC (-11%) holding onto its second place despite a double-digit decline. Similarly, Nissan/Infiniti (-21%) drops heavily but is back up to #3 overall ahead of Honda surging 50% to #4. Mercedes is stable at #5, while both Mazda (+12%) and Lexus (+57%) post significant gains. Local manufacturer Luxgen crumbles down 48% to just 650 sales.
Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla remains dominant at 7.3% share despite a steep 17% year-on-year drop, and the hero of the month is once again the Honda CR-V up a smashing 235% to #2 overall thanks to the new generation. It now ranks #3 YTD vs. #8 over FY2017. The Yaris (+32%), Sienta (+43%) and RAV4 (-20%) make it four Toyotas in the Top 5 this month. Also of note are the stunning gains of the Lexus NX (+254%), VW Tiguan (+39%), Mercedes GLC Class (+34%) and Subaru Forester (+30%), in order of appearance in the April ranking.
