Kazakhstan August 2017: Ravon R4 up to #2, Lifan up 989%

Thanks to our partnership with autoconsulting.kz, we can share with you today August data for Kazakhstan. New vehicle sales in the country are up 29% on a devastated August 2016 score to 4.884 units, lifting the year-to-date total up to just short of positive territory at -0.1% to 29.174 deliveries. Toyota remains the most popular brand in the market, accentuating its domination thanks to a 26% year-on-year surge to 20.1% share and distancing Lada up 5% to 14.7%. Ravon, the replacement brand for Uz-Daewoo, celebrates one year in market by holding onto an excellent third spot for the fourth time in the past six months. Hyundai drops 4% but direct followers Renault and GAZ both soar 51% on August 2016. Notice also Chevrolet up 151%, Nissan up 67%, Lifan up a mammoth 989%, JAC up 65%, Subaru up 211% and Mercedes up 293%.

Model-wise, the Toyota Camry (+19%) is way above the competition just as its main rival for #1, the Lada 4×4, is down 48% to a paltry 7th place this month. The best performance is delivered by the Ravon R4 – a rebadged Chevrolet Cobalt – up 14 spots on July to 5.5% share. The GAZ Gazelle (+55%), Renault Duster (+139%) and Lada Largus (+444%) also post spectacular gains inside the Top 5. Let’s also single out the Toyota Corolla (+167%), Prado (+44%), and Lada Vesta up 62-fold to #11. The Chevrolet Tracker (up 82-fold) and Hyundai Creta (up 72-fold) also shine in the Top 20.
