Switzerland May 2017: Mercedes up 36% in market up 9%
Mercedes sales are up 36% and the GLC is up 101% to #9 in Switzerland.

Switzerland is back on BSCB, with March and April 2017 added to this post, the commentary is about May 2017 data. This month the Swiss new car market is up 8.8% year-on-year to 28.411 registrations, meaning the year-to-date tally is back into positive territory at +0.2% to 126.995 units. Market leader Volkswagen drops 1% to 12.4% share, while Mercedes surges 36% to 8.7% and BMW is up 10% to 8%. Skoda (+4%) trails the market growth but Audi gains 15% in a stunning month for premium German brands. Inside the Top 10, Renault (+15%), Peugeot (+25%) and Seat (+36%) while outside Fiat (+31%), Suzuki (+35%), Dacia (+39%) and Mini (+20%) make themselves noticed. Among smaller brands, Alfa Romeo (+183%) and Tesla (+92%) are the most dynamic.
The BMW X1 is up 80% to 6th overall in May.
In the models ranking, the VW Golf snaps the pole position for the first time this year, distancing the year-to-date leader, the Skoda Octavia, by just five units. The VW Tiguan (+30%), Polo (-5%) and Mercedes C-Class (+47%) remain faithful to their YTD order. Below, the BMW X1 soars 80% to rank 5th, the Fiat 500 is up 26% to #7, the Mercedes GLC up 101% to #9 and the Mercedes A Class up 53% to #10, making it three Mercedes in the Top 10 – as many as Volkswagen. Outside the Top 10, The Opel Mokka gains 76% to #11, the Seat Alhambra is up 44% to #13 and the Dacia Sandero up 41% to #20. The Skoda Kodiaq leads recent launches (<12 months) at #31 ahead of the Audi Q2 at #47, Toyota C-HR at #59 and Suzuki Ignis at #61. The Seat Ateca tumbles down 47 spots to #66 and ranked #10 in March.
