Romania August 2016: Opel Astra shines in market up 69%

August sales in Romania are up 69% year-on-year to 12.411 registrations, lifting the year-to-date tally up 15% to 58.631 units in 8 months. Dacia evolves like its home market at +70% to 4.175 sales, resulting in a mammoth 33.6% share vs. 29.7% so far in 2016. Volkswagen (+37%) and Skoda (+53%) are back above Renault which ranked #2 last month but gains another 110% in August. Inside the Top 10, Ford (+76%), Opel (+93%) and Hyundai (+141%) stand out, outside, Peugeot (+150%), Honda (+198%) and Lexus (+220%) impress. Model-wise, Dacia monopolises the podium again with the Logan (+64%), Sandero (+114%) and Duster (+74%) in the lead but the Opel Astra at #4 and best-selling foreigner (+254%) and the Ford Fiesta at #9 (+249%) deliver the largest year-on-year gains inside the Top 10. Notice also the Renault Clio (+110%), Skoda Rapid (+129%), Suzuki Vitara (+153%), Renault Captur (+221%) and Hyundai i20 (+308%) posting spectacular gains.
