The Norwegian new car market is one of only a few in Europe to go in reverse in June at -3% to 13.681 registrations, but the year-to-date total remains in positive territory at +4.5% to 77.749 units. Volkswagen remains frankly in the lead despite sales dropping 9% to 2.287 and 16.7% share, distancing Toyota at 11.7% (+14%), Ford at 6.2% (+27%) and Mercedes at 6% (+34%). BMW (-5%) and Volvo (-30%) struggle, whereas Skoda (+12%), Opel (+34%), Dacia (+93%), Mini (+95%) and Jaguar (+156%) shine. The VW Golf is once again the most popular nameplate in the country albeit with deliveries down 35% to just 7.7% share, ahead of the Mitsubishi Outlander (+21%), VW Passat (+50%) and Toyota Auris (+29%). Note 55% of Golf sales in Norway come from the PHEV and e-Golf variant, 88% of Outlander sales are the PHEV, 50% of Passat sales are the PHEV and 98% of Auris sales are the hybrid version. The Tesla Model S is struggling in 2016 with sales down 50% in June and 54% year-to-date. The Toyota Prius shoots up 186% to #12 and now ranks within the 2016 Top 20, the Mazda CX-3 is up 249% to #15 and the Skoda Superb up 250% to #17. Finally, notice the arrival of the Tesla Model X in the ranking at #146 with 7 units delivered.
