The Bulgarian new car market is up 15% year-on-year in May to an estimated 2.826 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total up 9% to 12.463. Keep in mind sales data for Bulgaria is always to be taken with a pinch of salt as an estimated 25 to 30% of volumes get re-exported to other European countries and never sees domestic roads. In this context, Dacia reclaims the top of the brands ranking off sister brand Renault both in May with 12.3% share vs. 11.8% and year-to-date at 1.574 vs. 1.566 sales, both manufacturers holding a 12.6% market share. Skoda (+20%) and Toyota (+68%) overtake Ford (-5%) while Volkswagen tumbles down 25% to #$6. Nissan (+37%), Seat (+420%) and Land Rover (+60%) shine. The Renault Clio and Dacia Dokker remain the most popular nameplates in the country, followed this time by the Nissan Qashqai, Skoda Octavia and Dacia Duster. Strong showing by the Renault Kadjar at #19.
