Netherlands April 2016: VW and Golf back in control, market up

April marks the 2nd consecutive month of year-on-year gains in the Netherlands at +3% to 27.783 units, after the end of income tax subsidies to eco-friendly cars sent the market down 15% over the first two months of the year. Volkswagen is back in charge despite sales down 3% to 3.210 and 11.6% share. Volkswagen distances Renault at 9.1% (+14%), Peugeot at 8.5% (-2%), Opel at 6.7% (+5%) and Ford at 5.9% (-15%). Skoda (+21%), Volvo (+37%) and most impressively Toyota (+134%) deliver the best performances in the Top 10. Below, Suzuki (+32%), Fiat (+41%), Mini (+52%), Honda (+138%), Tesla (+85%) and Jaguar (+81%) shine. The VW Golf returns to the #1 spot it holds year-to-date in the models rankings, followed by the Renault Clio and Peugeot 108. The Volvo XC90 (#19), Suzuki Vitara (#33) and Mini Clubman (#48) get themselves noticed.
