UK nations March 2016: Kia Sportage scores one podium, Kadjar strong

After the overall UK Top 10 and thanks to SMMT we can now share with you the Top 10 best-sellers for each UK nation for March. England (+6%) drives the overall UK market as usual, representing 85.8% of total UK sales this month. Northern Ireland (+5%) evolves like the market but Wales and Scotland (both at +3%) lag behind. March being one of the two much larger license plate change months, the models rankings return to an order close to their traditional annual shape, but there are still some surprises, notably in Northern Ireland, less affected by the license plate change. As it has done so for almost a decade annually, the Ford Fiesta is #1 in all UK nations bar one: Scotland, traditionally Vauxhall Corsa territory. The Vauxhall Astra shines in Northern Ireland (#2) and Scotland (#3) while the Ford Focus only manages two podium rankings: in England and Wales.
The Renault Kadjar remains inside the Northern Irish Top 10 in March.
In England, the Top 8 is identical to the UK ranking, with the Audi A3 (#9) and Fiat 500 (#10) exchanging ranks, but the most interesting difference is the Mercedes A-Class holding onto its Top 10 year-to-date ranking (#9) whereas it is outside the 10 favourites in the UK overall. Northern Ireland sees the Kia Sportage leaps three spots on February to an outstanding third position (it ranks #10 in Wales) while the Seat Ibiza jumps to #4, the Hyundai Tucson is down five spots to a still solid #6 and the Renault Kadjar lodges a 2nd consecutive Top 10 month at #9. The Renault Clio (#6), Captur (#7) and Vauxhall Viva (#10) all shine in Scotland. Great performers in Wales include the Vauxhall Mokka at #4 (its only Top 10 ranking this month), the Ford Kuga at #5 and Toyota Yaris at #7.
