The Finnish new car market is up 5% year-on-year in March to 11.495 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total up 13% to 32.795 units for the first quarter of 2016. Toyota is up 2% to 1.420 sales and 12.4%, that’s enough to bypass Volkswagen (+14%) in the year-to-date ranking with Nissan (-19%) rounding up the March podium. Ford (+13%), Honda (+24%), Mercedes (+30%) and Opel (+26%) frankly outperform the market in the Top 10, with Renault (+56%), Mazda (+49%), Land Rover (+89%), Fiat (+400%) and Jaguar (+767%) also impressive below. In the models ranking, the Nissan Qashqai (-26%) overtakes the Skoda Octavia (-24%) but the latter remains #1 year-to-date, yet both nameplates fall heavily in March. The Toyota Auris (+3%), Avensis (+34%) and VW Golf (+29%) on the other hand are in good shape, so is the Opel Astra (+164%) boosted by the new generation. The Nissan Note leaps up to #13, the Audi A4 is up 53% to #14, the Skoda Superb up 131% to #16 and Volvo V60 up 45% to #17.
