After surging to a record 156.173 registrations in December, traditionally and by far the biggest month of the year in Turkey, the market falls back to a much more modest 32.713 units in January (-4%) and 52.825 in February (-8%), bringing the year-to-date total to 85.538 deliveries, down 5% on the same period a year ago. Over the period, Volkswagen (-17%) and Ford (-10%) lead but fall faster than the market whereas Renault gains ground at +10% in third place, followed by Fiat (-11%). Hyundai is stable at #5, Opel (+19%) and Mercedes (+41%) impress as well as, outside the Top 10, Audi (+23%), Honda (+35%), Land Rover (+50%), Subaru (+76%) and Mini (+157%).
Over in the models ranking, in January the Renault Fluence starts the year with a bang at 1.568 sales and 4.8% share ahead of the Ford Courier (4%), Toyota Corolla (3.9%) and Renault Clio (3.6%) while the Fiat Egea gains a further three spots on December to land in 6th position with 1.071 sales and 3.3% share. The Hyundai i20 is up to #9, the VW Transporter up to #11, Mercedes C-Class up to #17 and the Hyundai Tucson lifts up 27 ranks on the previous month to land at #21. In February, the Fluence and Courier keep the lead at 4% and 3.6% share respectively, while the Fiat Egea posts its first ever podium at #3 with 1.866 units sold, missing out on the 2nd place by a mere 25 sales. Other great performers include the VW Polo at #4, the Peugeot 301 at #20, Honda CR-V at #23 and Hyundai Tucson at #24.
