The Nigerian new car market is up 8% year-on-year in 2014 to 53.900 registrations, still a minuscule figure given its population of 175 million inhabitants. For the first time on BSCB I can share with you official models data for Nigeria as described further down. Toyota remains by far the most popular carmaker in the country despite sales down 14% to 15.802 for a 29.3% market share, and is followed like in 2013 by the two main Korean manufacturers, albeit in a different order: Hyundai shoots up 72% to 2nd place overall with 12.4% share whereas Kia is down 26% to 4.745. Nissan is up 29% and two spots to #4, Ford down 2% and one rank to #5 and Mitsubishi down 30% to #6.
