New light vehicle sales in Poland are down 4% year-on-year both in March to 38,380 registrations and year-to-date at 103,623 registrations, however sales during the corresponding period in 2014 were boosted by by VAT-exemptions for cars purchased as LCV by companies. All-in-all not a bad performance so far in 2015 then. March shows a big push by Volkswagen up to 10.2% share thanks to 3,903 sales vs. 10.7% and 4,093 for traditional leader Skoda. Ford is also particularly strong at 8.2% while Opel (+27%) and Nissan (+29%) are the biggest year-on-year gainers in the Top 10 so far in 2015.
The Ford Mondeo is inside the Polish Top 20 this month.
The models ranking offers a big surprise on top: the VW Golf manages to steal the pole position off the Skoda Octavia for a mere 19 units: 1,171 sales and 3.1% share vs. 1,152 and 3% for the Czech sedan, a testimony of the ever-increasing fragmentation of the Polish car market. The Octavia remains at #1 year-to-date however at 3,824 units and 3.7%, followed by the Toyota Yaris, extremely impressive at 3,051 units and 2.9%. In fact Toyota places two nameplates inside the March Polish Top 4: the Auris at #3 and the Yaris at #4. Notice also the VW Passat up 6 spots on February to a splendid 9th position, the Ford Ka up 26 to #19, the Ford Mondeo up 28 to #20, Nissan Micra up 18 to #25 and Honda Civic back up to #26.
