After exploring the Top 10 brands and models for December, it is now time to look at complete rankings. Brand-wise, Nissan (+30%), Seat (+21%), Mini (+43%), Smart (+65%) and Jeep (+193%) all impress in the Top 30. Outside the familiar Top 10, the Opel Astra is back up 7 spots on a particularly weak month of November to #12, however its stablemate the Opel Mokka is following closely, up 86% year-on-year to beat the European ranking record it set last month and lift it to #14. The Mercedes C-Class is a little further from the Top 10 than last month by still reaches a very respectable 13th place with sales up 76% on December 2013 vs. #19 for the BMW 3 Series and #37 for the Audi A4.
The Seat Leon continues its incredible run in Europe, boosted by a very strong performance in Germany: it is up another 46% year-on-year in December to #18, simply the nameplate’s best-ever ranking on the continent. The Mini, now helped by a 5-door variant, more than double the nameplate’s sales year-on-year (+102%) to land at #22, the Volvo V40 is up 18 ranks on November to #30, the VW Golf Sportsvan is back into its category lead at #32 (vs. #35 for the Renault Scénic and #41 for the Citroen C4 Picasso), the Ford Kuga is up 31% to #40, the BMW 2 Series up 11 ranks to #64 and the Citroen C4 Cactus up one to #66.
As far as recent launches are concerned, the Jeep Renegade lodges its very first European Top 100 ranking in December, up 27 spots to #91, the Nissan Pulsar is up 14 ranks to #110, the Smart Forfour up 36 to #114, the BMW X4 up 3 to #128 but the Ford Ecosport is already down 11 on November to #136.
