New car sales in Slovenia halt their recovery in May: down 2% year-on-year to 4,737 registrations, however the year-to-date total is 23,412 units, up 5% on 2013. After the Golf last month, Volkswagen manages to place another model in pole position in May: the Polo ranks 1st for the second time this year after last January thanks to 299 sales and 6.3% share, to my knowledge the nameplate’s highest market share ever in Slovenia. The Renault Clio is kept away from the #1 spot once again but remains in the lead year-to-date with 1,384 units and 5.9% ahead of the VW Golf at 1,240 and 5.3%.
Another model breaking records this month is the Skoda Rapid, up 4 spots on April to #4 with 174 sales and 3.7%, its highest ranking in the country also hit last December and its strongest ever market share. Notice also the Kia Cee’d back up 11 ranks on last month to #8, the Citroen C3 up 5 to #11, Fiat 500 up 10 to #12, Skoda Yeti up 21 to #14, Ford Focus up 7 to #17, BMW 5 Series up 18 to #22 and the Ford B-Max up 24 to #24. We welcome the VW Golf Sportsvan into the Slovenian ranking this month, directly at #62 while the Mercedes GLA is up 21 spots to #74.
