For the first time in the history of BSCB I can finally give you a lot more detail on the annual models ranking in Mexico, usually restricted to the Top 10-15 each month. It’s a fascinating insight in an otherwise pretty ‘secret’ ranking. Below the usual suspects let’s first notice the VW Gol down 27% and 6 spots to #13, the Ford F-Series down 7% but up one rank to #14, the Chevrolet Trax up 883% to #15 with 16,613 sales, Seat Ibiza down 17% to #17 and the Dodge i10 down 1% to #19. Yes, you have read well, the Hyundai i10 is sold under the Dodge brand in Mexico even though it still sports a Hyundai badge…
Outside the Top 20, the Chevrolet Silverado is down 7% to #21, the Mazda3 up 10% to #22, Renault Duster up 30% to #26, Toyota RAV4 up 108% to #28, Mazda CX-5 up 96 spots on 2012 to #29, Ford Ikon up 45% to #30, Toyota Hilux up 66% to #35, Honda Accord up 37% to #41, Jeep Grand Cherokee up 20% to #43 and the VW Polo up fro #147 in 2012 to #44 this year.
Among all-new models for 2013, the VW Vento lands directly at #51 with 5,190 sales, the Seat Toledo is almost all-new, going from 73 units in 2012 to #77 and 3,058 sales this year, the Nissan Versa Note arrives at #104, Peugeot 301 at #109, Peugeot 208 at #116, Fiat Uno at #119, Mitsubishi ASX at #132 and Honda CR-Z at #146.
