Traditionally a weaker month for car sales in Taiwan due to Lunar Year celebrations, February is stable year-on-year to 20,896 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 65,097 units, up 4% on 2013. The Top 3 best-seller in the country this month are the same as over the Full Year 2013 albeit in a different order: the Toyota Corolla still reigns supreme with 9.8% share but the Nissan Tiida at 4.2% passes the Toyota Wish at 4.1%. The Nissan Sentra is very robust at #4 as is the CMC Veryca up 5 spots to #5.
But the big question mark this month was whether the local new kid on the block, the Luxgen U6 Turbo, would be able to hold a similar level as the third position it spectacularly grabbed in January… So far, yes: it ranks 6th with a strong 3.5% market share and is #4 for now in 2014. Notice also the Nissan Rogue up to #18 vs. #38 over the FY2013, the Subaru Forester up to #20 vs. #37, the VW Tiguan up to #28 vs. #43 and the Luxgen S5 Turbo up 13 ranks on January to #31.
