New car sales in Monaco are up 6% year-on-year in 2013 to reach 2,556 registrations, and now is the time to share with you an exclusive models ranking for the Principality, you won’t find this anywhere else! Always a fascinating and very unique ranking due to the extraordinary wealth of Monaco’s inhabitants. Thanks to sales up a huge 65% on 2012 to 109 units for a 4.3% market share, the Audi A4 becomes the most popular model in the country this year, making Monaco the only country in the world to crown the A4. It kicks the Mini, #1 in 2012, the Audi A3, #2 last year and the Smart Fortwo (#3) to #2, #3 and #4 respectively.
Mercedes A Class sales in Monaco are up 159% on 2012!
Another huge performer this year in Monaco is the Mercedes A-Class up 12 spots and 159% on 2012 to land in 5th place with 83 sales and 2.9% share. Porsche staggeringly places two models inside the Top 7 like last year: the Cayenne at #6 with 2.7% share and the 911 at #7 with 2.6%… Notice also the Toyota Yaris up 64% to #12, Range Rover up 81% to #13, Audi Q5 up 57% to #15, Porsche Boxster up 191% to #18, Audi Q3 up 55% to #19 and the Mercedes GL up 525% to #25. The Mercedes CLA is the best-selling all-new model this year, landing directly at #48.
Two Rolls Royce Wraith found a buyer in Monaco in 2013.
The two main spectacular characteristics of the Monaco models ranking is the absence of French cars at the top in spite of the Principality being nested within France (the French best-seller is the Renault Clio at #32) but this is compensated by the other striking element of the ranking: the presence of prestige cars very high up. Below the two Porsche mentioned above, we find the Bentley Continental GT at an out-of-this-world #14 with 1.4% share, the Ferrari 458 at #26, Ferrari F12 at #31, Lamborghini Aventador at #85, Maserati Quattroporte at #96 and Rolls Royce Phantom at #102. We also welcome the Aston Martin Vanquish at #121, Maserati Ghibli at #154 and Rolls Royce Wraith at #184.
