Spain November 2013: Nissan Qashqai back in charge

New car sales in Spain confirm they are back into positive territory, up a fantastic 15% year-on-year in October to 55,675 registrations. Granted, October 2012 was one of the worst in history but the year-to-date total is now up 2% on 2012 to 663,275 units. Just as the new generation was revealed, the Nissan Qashqai tops the models ranking for the first time since last November thanks to 1,537 sales and 2.8% market share, enabling it to climb back up to #2 year-to-date with 2.9% share. This could potentially be the result of the old generation in runout mode. The Dacia Sandero lodges another huge month, up 14 spots on October to #2 at 1,491 units and 2.7% and now ranking #11 year-to-date. 2013’s leader, the Seat Ibiza, is #3 once again with 1,476 sales and 2.7%, maintaining a comfortable advantage in the year-to-date rankings.

October’s leader the Renault Clio is down 3 ranks to #4. while the Toyota Auris improves further on an already excellent October score, up one spot to #7 with 1,247 sales and 2.2%. Other great performers include the VW Tiguan up 3 ranks to #16 vs. #28 year-to-date, the VW Passat up 26 to #20, Dacia Duster slicing its October ranking in to to #21 and the Honda CR-V up 30 spots to #41. Notice also the Renault Captur down 7 ranks to #25 and the Peugeot 2008 stable at #31.
