The troubled political situation in Egypt has taken its toll on new car sales in the country, down 15% year-on-year in October to 15,687 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total into negative at 157,652 units, down 1% on 2012. The Top 2 best-sellers this month are identical to the year-to-date’s ranking: the Hyundai Verna leads the way with 1,563 sales and a round 10% share, ahead of the Chevrolet TFR Pick-up at 1,503 units and 9.6% vs. 9.6% and 9.2% year-to-date respectively.
The model which is turning out to be the hero of the year is lodging another very impressive month: the Geely Emgrand 7 is back up on the Egyptian podium thanks to 1,044 units sold for a 6.7% market share, lifting itself up to #4 year-to-date as a result… Other great performers in Egypt this month include the Peugeot 301 up 7 spots to #13, the Hyundai ix35 up 11 to #17 and the Dodge Dart up 27 to #62. We also welcome (back) the Seat Ibiza and Opel Insignia in the ranking at #58 and #59.
