Once again the Light Commercial Vehicles market behaves slightly better than the Passenger Cars one in France: down 6% year-on-year in August (vs. -11%) to 18,039 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 237,747 units, down 8% on 2012. Confirming it’s back into its traditional head-and-shoulders domination, the Renault Kangoo is above 10% market share for the first time since January at 1,975 sales and 10.9%, which is also its strongest market share in 12 months. The Citroen Berlingo lodges a 2nd consecutive month well above its year-to-date level at 8.8% share vs. 6.2% while the Renault Master is back to the third position it also holds year-to-date at 1,021 units and 5.7%.
But why is the Dacia Dokker not selling well in France?
But the real heroes of the months are the two best-selling Passenger Cars, in their LCV version: the Renault Clio IV is up 6 spots on July to land in 4th place, its best ranking so far, thanks to 943 sales and 5.2%. Only 5 units below we find the Peugeot 208, delivering its third Top 5 finish in the last 13 months. Notice also the Mercedes Sprinter holding onto its 9th spot at 3.7% vs. 2.7% year-to-date. Finally, the Dacia Dokker ranks #24 with 182 sales and 1%. Which brings me to my question to you readers: Given how aggressively the Dokker is priced and how similar it is to the Kangoo, I cannot understand why it doesn’t rank much higher: the Kangoo outsells it 10 to 1 this month! If anyone has an answer or even an hypothesis please comment on here!
