Belgium August 2013: Mercedes and Renault in great shape
Mercedes sales are up a massive 28% year-on-year this month in Belgium.

Belgian new car sales are down 5% year-on-year in August to 29,829 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 354,581 units, now up just 0.4% on 2012. Volkswagen remains the most popular brand in the country but slips just under 10% share this because with sales down 14% to 2,944. Reversely, Renault is up 15% to 2,792 units and 9.4%, potentially thanks to the combined effect of the Clio IV and Captur. Peugeot stays #3 but loses 19%, ahead of Opel (-3%), BMW (-2%) and Audi (-1%). In fact, Mercedes is the only other Top 10 manufacturer to gain ground in August, up a fantastic 28% on August 2012 to 1,921 sales and 6.4% share. There are only 5 additional gainers inside the Top 20: Dacia (+8%), Fiat (+6%), Volvo (+5%), Mini (+4%) and Chevrolet (+74%).
