New car sales in Argentina are down 9% year-on-year in March to 75,138 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 247,804 units, down 2% on 2012. The Chevrolet Classic remains the most popular model in the country thanks to 3,701 sales and 4.9% share this month, followed by the Peugeot 207 Compact at 3,206 units and 4.3%, also #2 year-to-date at 3.9% share. The big event this month is the arrival of the Renault Clio Mio (in fact a facelifted 1998 Clio) on the podium at #3 with 2,633 sales and 3.5%, beating its previous best of #4 reached last January. Notice also the Ford Ecosport and Renault Duster both very solid at #5 and #8 respectively, with the Duster at #3 year-to-date. Finally, the Chery QQ writes history this month by becoming the first Chinese model to break into the monthly Argentinean Top 50 at #47 with 392 sales and 0.5%.
