Thanks to Ran from www.cartube.co.il we now have our monthly rendezvous with the Israeli new car market. In February, new car sales in Israel are down 8% year-on-year to 16,879 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 39,418 units, up 2% on 2012. Surprise on top: although the current generation is nearing the end of its life, the Toyota Corolla takes the lead thanks to 745 sales and 4.4% share, passing the traditional leader, the Ford Focus, for only 2 units! The Focus however keeps the pole position year-to-date by far at 2,388 units and 6.1%. The Hyundai i35 (aka Elantra) is up 5 spots on January to round up the podium with 680 sales and 4%.
Exceptional month of the Mazda6 now that the new generation is in dealerships: up no less than 98 ranks on January to land in 7th position at 442 units and 2.6% vs. #82 over the Full Year 2012. Notice also the Mazda3 back up to a slightly less dismal #16, the Suzuki Splash up 4 to #15, Toyota Auris up a huge 92 spots to #23 thanks to the new model, Mitsubishi Outlander up a further 8 to #25, Peugeot 301 up 17 to #33, Fiat 500 up 44 to #42, Citroen C-Elysee up 72 to #60 and Mercedes A-Class up 95 to #69.
